More about the non-resident
student agreement:
The agreement,
in effect through the 2027-28 school year, establishes the number of students
residing in the Nelson County School District who may attend Bardstown City
Schools and be counted in the BCS average daily attendance for state funding
purposes.
All new Nelson County resident students who desire to attend BCS in grades K – 12 must complete an online application, including siblings of Nelson County out-of-district students currently attending BCS. (Siblings are defined as brothers/sisters,
step-brothers/sisters, adopted brothers/sisters, foster children, and children
residing as part of a non-traditional family unit (such as
aunt/uncle/grandparent) in the same household as the NCS student already
enrolled in BCS.)
Priority
for Nelson County resident students continuing to attend BCS or to be newly
admitted to BCS shall be in the following order:
Nelson County resident students
currently attending BCS. (Online
application not necessary.)
Students currently attending BCS
whose status changes due to a relocation of residence to the NCS district. (Online application not necessary.)
Siblings of currently enrolled nonresident students who apply for
admission. (Online application necessary.)
NCS resident students currently enrolled in the four-year-old program at Bardstown Early Childhood Education Center wishing to attend kindergarten at BCS. (Online application necessary.)
Applicants
who do not gain admission to Bardstown City Schools must reapply in subsequent
years.
A certain number of students not selected through the process above may pay tuition, which is equal to the state funding amount, to attend BCS. Students who pay tuition are not considered resident students for future year priority. However, they may apply through the online process the following year. If not selected through the online process, they must continue to pay tuition.
If you have questions regarding the online application process, please call 502-331-8800. If you do not have computer access, you may fill out an online application at the Central Office of Bardstown City Schools at 308 North Fifth Street or at any of our school offices beginning 9:00am on Monday, January 4, 2021.
