National Honor Society had its first meeting on Wednesday, September 18 to discuss club t-shirts, upcoming service projects,and information about officer elections.

It was decided to meet the following Tuesday,September 24, to formally pick colors for t-shirts and to elect officers. Dues of $25 will be collected upondistribution of t-shirts. Dues includet-shirt cost as well as national and local NHS fees.

Service project ideas were discussed. Some suggestions from members:

·        Collect shoes for WaterSteps program

·        Collect jeans

·        Make regular trips to Human Society or othersuch organization


Service Projects Already Planned:


Thanksgiving Food baskets for identified families through resource center.

Annual Cake Auction on the last day of school prior to Thanksgiving break. 
Proceeds used to purchase Christmas gifts foridentified families through the resource center needing assistance.



“Books and Basketball” 
This will be a joint effort between NationalHonor Society, Boys Basketball team, and the library staff. A book fair will be held the week of December9-13. Tuesday, December 10, is the firsthome basketball game. The book fair willbe set up in the gym lobby. 100% of theproceeds from the fair will be used to purchase books for families identifiedfor Christmas assistance through the BCS Family Resource Center.
