A total of 13 Bardstown High School students have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement exams last school year.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Program provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP exams. Bardstown High School offers a total of 14 AP courses for students.

The College Board recognizes four levels of achievement based on student performance and AP exams. The highest level of academic distinction is National AP Scholar, followed by AP Scholar with Distinction, AP Scholar with Honor and AP Scholar.

Two students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. The AP Scholars with Honor are 2018 graduates Sara Luckett and Evan Newsome.

Eleven students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by earning a score of 3.0 or higher on three or more AP exams. The AP Scholars are current seniors Jackson Downs, Parth Patel, and Ashley Zizzo and current junior Clay Newton. Also honored were 2018 BHS graduates Lexi Coulter, Elizabeth Finn, Austin Kisegy, Amber Mason, Joseph “Miles” Newton, Jeremy Taylor, and Shelby Thomas.
