Ms. Kelly Bedtelyon has been named director of Communications for Bardstown City Schools.  Bedtelyon will assume the position July 1 following the retirement of Ms. Kim Lacy.

Bedtelyon, a native of Nelson County, gained her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Louisville in 2009.  She brings 9 years of experience in communications and non-profit work to her new position.

Currently the Senior Media Manager for Danville Independent Schools, Bedtelyon has also served as director of Marketing and Communication for two major non-profit organizations, the American Heart Association and the Lincoln Heritage Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

In her role at Bardstown City Schools, Bedtelyon will coordinate both internal and external communication strategies for the district.  She will also serve as executive director of the Bardstown Foundation for Excellence in Public Education, which raises funds from private sources to supplement the educational offerings for students of Bardstown City Schools.

According to Brent Holsclaw, superintendent, “Kelly comes to us with an impressive background in communications and I feel she will be able to help us continue to promote our vision for Bardstown City Schools.  Her knowledge of the position and the experience she brings working in a school system make her an excellent choice for our Communication Director.”  Holsclaw added, “Her work with non-profit organizations and development will be of great benefit as she assumes her role with our Foundation. We are fortunate to have her as part of the Bardstown City Schools team.”

“It is truly an honor to be joining such a forward-thinking school district,” said Bedtelyon.  “Storytelling is my passion and the director of Communication role gives me the opportunity to do what I love in the community I love.  I am eager to get to work sharing the achievements of Bardstown students with the community.  I look forward to meeting teachers, students, parents and becoming a fixture at school events,” she added.
