Chris Pickett

Bardstown County Schools is pleased to announce Chris Pickett as the new director of pupil personnel for the district. Pickett is assuming the role left vacant by Todd Hood after his transition to a full-time director of facilities and transportation.

The growth and development of facilities coupled with a recent retirement presented an opportunity to reorganize a few leadership roles to better serve students and families.

“The construction of the new elementary and future renovations at the old elementary to accommodate more programs require a lot more time and attention,“ said Dr. Ryan P. Clark, superintendent. “Mr. Hood’s more focused role will provide adequate time to oversee building operations.”

As the Director of Pupil Personnel, Chris will serve Bardstown City School students by partnering with their families to ensure they have every opportunity to be successful academically.  In this role he’ll also work with principals, teachers, community agencies, social workers and the court to implement school level interventions to improve pupil attendance.

“I am very excited to have this opportunity to continue to support and serve students and their families,” said Pickett. “My transition from high school principal to director of pupil personnel will continue to focus on ensuring all students are engaged and have the support needed to be successful in school.  In the educational process, attendance should be a top priority because a key component to success is just showing up.”

“Chris has been a fixture of Bardstown High School for more than 20 years.  He has achieved many successes serving BHS students and families.  His experience as a school leader and familiarity with our schools and community will allow him to support students in meaningful ways,” said Dr. Clark. “Through his many years of service to our BCS community, he has developed tremendous skill identifying opportunities, solving problems and removing barriers for students.”

Pickett has worked in education since 2000 for Bardstown City Schools. He began his career as a science teacher. In 2007, he became assistant principal at Bardstown High School. In 2011 the Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council selected him for the principal position.

He earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Campbellsville University and a Master of Arts in Education from Western Kentucky University. Pickett and his wife Anna are the parents of Lilly, Foster and Murray who are students at BCS.

He will depart as principal of Bardstown High School and begin his new position once a new principal is named. The Site Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council will work with Superintendent Clark to hire his replacement at the high school.
