Introduction:

The weather has gone haywire in your town. You will need to find out about what causes weather. Working with a team of four and using your skills as a reader you will first read the book Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. In the links provided below you will read about what causes it to rain. You will find out all about weather. You will then complete a Hyperstudio or KidPix presentation on the information you have found.

Task:

Your job is to become a weather know it all. You will need to print out the sheet Weather Notes and use it to answer questions and take your own notes. Your job is also to define the three major types of clouds.

Process:

Your first job will be to read the book Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Complete the Story Map (Ask your teacher if you may print this out.)

In your next job you will work in groups of three. You will use the links provided below to read about what causes it to rain. Using your weather notes page include a drawing of the water cycle. This will be used in your presentation.

You will then proceed toward your next step. You will follow the links below that give examples of clouds. Your job will be to read all about them on your weather notes page and include a drawing about each major type of cloud. (These will be used in your Hyperstudio or KidPix presentaton.)

Conclusion:

Now that you have studied weather you have gained more knowledge about how weather works. You also understand how clouds play an important role in weather. Share your presentation with your class mates.
