Mrs. Stephanie Thompson

Bardstown Elementary School

Third Grade Teacher

Born and Raised: Bardstown, KY

Hometown: I am originally from Bardstown and I graduated from Bardstown High School. I teach in the classroom where I once sat as a student.

Family Information: My husband, Jamie and I recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary.  We have a daughter, a son and one grandson, Ben!  I have 5 sisters and 1 brother. My dad retired from General Electric and lives in Bardstown.  My step-dad retired from Navistar and lives in Bardstown with my mother in my childhood home.

Education or Experience:  I graduated from Midway College with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  I have my Master’s Degree and Rank I from the University of the Cumberlands.

How long at BES: I am entering my twelfth year of teaching at Bardstown Elementary School.

Favorite sport or team: NFL team is the Dallas Cowboys; College sports team is University of Louisville ~ Go Cards ~

Favorite Book:  “Where the Red Fern Grows”

Favorite Authors: J. A. Jance and Sue Grafton

Favorite T.V. Shows: Jeopardy! and 60 Minutes.

What do you like best about teaching:  I love seeing the “light bulb go on” in a student’s face when they have that “Aha” moment because they finally understand a skill or concept they have been struggling to grasp. I enjoy being able to share my enthusiasm for learning.  No matter how bad my day could be, a single child can turn it around just by saying what’s on their mind or telling me a story about something going on in their life. My students keep me young and remind me to have fun!

Favorite Quote: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” ~  Nelson Mandela
